Which one would you choose?

Maybe you don't know this about me but one of the things I dislike the most, and have had to do for 22 years is make school lunches. I have 3 more months left and then I'm finished for life! After much "discussion" about Tom wanting to start taking his lunch from home rather than buying it everyday and him wanting me to be the one who makes it, I protested a bit. To make things worse he was listing things that aren't so simple to make or they would stink up the refrigerator he would keep it in at work. One of the things he wants is cut up pears in cottage cheese. Of course he wants sweetened canned pears in bite-size pieces instead of fresh pears. (He had a mom who always prepared his fruit for him, taking off the skin and cutting it into pieces so all he had to do was chew it). Yesterday he decided to have a pear for breakfast with some cottage cheese. The first thing I saw when I came down to make Becca's lunch was the knife he used to cut and slice the pear. It was the LARGEST carving knife we own. He said he chose that knife because he couldn't find another knife to use. The ones pictured were in the drawer but he was wanting a knife that is usually in the knife block on the counter. Those were clean in the dishwasher and dish drainer.
Rachel was over yesterday and I showed her the knife her dad used and we laughed so hard together. Tom has tried over the years to convince me that he doesn't have a clue what do in the kitchen. I'm so thankful that there is another room in the house that he is quite good in!
